Rachel Roberts stars in tonight’s play by Hugh Whitemore

Frankenstein Mark II

ANNA PRESTON is attractive and fortyish. She has been divorced from her scientist husband George for almost a year and already she has started a new life without him. But one night a,mysterious visitor, a Mr. Smithers, arrives at her flat claiming to be a friend of her husband’s and asking if he can take away his few remaining belongings. Anna agrees, but when he has left she becomes suspicious, and this suspicion is followed by an irresistible urge to see her ex-husband once again.

She tries to contact him at the space-research establishment where he worked-but none of his scientist friends can tell her what has become of him. His work is top secret and officialdom tries to block all her efforts to contact him. But the more they try to dissuade her, the surer Anna becomes that George is in some sort of danger—though even she cannot imagine that it is as horrifying as it turns out to be . . .

This original play by Hugh Whitemore stars Rachel Roberts as the scientist’s ex-wife. In real life Miss Roberts is married to Rex Harrison. Recently she had a great success in the West End musical
Maggie May, and previously in the film This Sporting Life. She is supported by those two fine actors David Langton and Bernard Archard.
